John and Melodie at the Ohio Traffic Safety Summit. The kitchen-table conversation at the center of the book started with the two of them — and the partnership never stopped.

In John’s Words

“I didn’t write this because everyone should own a driving school. I wrote it because the opportunity that changes your life may be hiding inside a problem everyone else has quietly agreed to tolerate.”

For years I assumed the interesting opportunities belonged to other people — the ones with the big idea, the right timing, the head start. Building Champion City taught me the opposite is usually true. The best openings look ordinary. They look like the thing everyone complains about and no one fixes. This book is the story of one of those, and a simple way to spot your own.
