Run any idea through the same test from the book. Answer honestly — there are no wrong answers here, just useful ones.
Built by John Whitacre, author of Nobody Dreams of Owning a Driving School — the same test he uses on his own ideas.
What’s the idea you’re testing? (optional, just for your own reference)
1. Does this need already exist among real people today?
2. Would people pay for a solution to this today, if one existed?
3. Do people already treat the current situation as just “how things are”?
4. Have you heard multiple, different people complain about this same specific thing?
5. Could you build a first version of the fix with tools, skills, or resources that already exist today?
6. Does solving this NOT require a brand-new invention or technology that doesn’t exist yet?
This is a reflection tool based on your own answers — not market validation or a prediction of business success. Treat it as a way to see where an idea is strong and where it needs work.
Keep a copy to revisit later, or to compare against a different idea. It stays with you — nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere.
